Just as doing my homework assignments for the admin class I took this semester from Concord Univeristy during the four weeks of Twilight obsession, I am unveiling my blogs to follow early in the morning, while it' not too late!
Lately, I have been following Ian Jukes's blog after listening to his presentations last summer. His insights into the 21st century learning gave me tons of food for thought and provided good support for opening my mind to the teaching and learning opportunities initiated by Globaloria. The work my students have accomplished this year proves that 21st century learning is taking place in WV schools . In the end of the year, my studetns have produced a video that shows their accomplishments in this class and is a great evidence of their engagement and hard work.
I have also decided to follow up the edu blogs website suggested by Rachael yesterday during the session. I am extremely interested in the issues of 21st century literacy and digital divide as these are the roadblocks we frequently hit as teachers working in high poverty areas. Despite the location and peculiarities of school locations, teachers still need to leave no child behind and find ways to help all the kids to be successful within the 21st century workspace.

Rachel, the books are definitely worth the read because it's just simply nice to read for pure, guiltless, much enjoyed pleasure. The theme is engaging, but the author's style is what's dragged me in- can you say ADDICTIVE? If you do choose to read the books (I got all of them on my Kindle- so convenient), be ready to accept the fact that during that time it will be really hard to dedicate yourself to other things. Can I also advertise for Kindle???
The Kindle! Omg, the ultimate paradox for me. I want one so badly, but I love collecting the books I've read...I'm torn. Though, if you vouch for it, then maybe the scales are tipping...
The next time I'm on vacation, I'll read the Twilight books and gush to you about them! I can't resist romances.
I never thought I would like reading books on Kindle, but here I am, completely mesmerized by this neat gadget. Being quite an impatient person, I truly appreciate the fact that the book is available to you moments after the purchase, so I never had to wait for my next Twilight book!I also love the fact that you can use highlighting tool for the professional reads and upload the highlights to your computer. How neat would that be for your research? Plus, consider the possible going green with Kindle :)
On a professional note, I am entertaining the possibilities of writing a grant to purchase a classroom set of Kindles as there are not many things that worry me more than adolescent literacy issues.
The Twilight series must have something in it. When Amanda started reading them, she didn't speak to me for 3 days. I am not joking she walked around with a book in her hand constantly. I finally ask her if she was ok. So be careful and make sure you have lots of free time...
